Southbound Route
ONSHORE follows Portugal’s Atlantic edge, travelling south from Lisbon to the Algarve along a coastline shaped by surf, light, and open space. The route has been designed to feel fluid rather than rushed, with a balance of movement and stillness built into each week.
The journey begins near Lisbon, where wide beaches and consistent waves make it easy to settle into the rhythm of the trip.
From here, the route passes through surf-rich stretches around Ericeira and Peniche before turning quieter and more expansive along the Alentejo coast. Long beaches, empty horizons, and small coastal towns define this part of the journey, offering a change of pace and space to slow down.
In the final days, the route reaches the Algarve’s west coast, where dramatic cliffs, golden light, and multiple surf options create a natural high point. With longer stays built into the itinerary, there’s time to enjoy unhurried mornings, evening barbecues, and coastal walks before the journey comes to a close.
Each stop has been chosen for its access to good surf, comfortable overnight locations, and a sense of place — creating a route that feels cohesive, relaxed, and deeply connected to the coast.
Day 1
Lisbon → Ericeira
Arrive in Lisbon, meet the group, and get settled into your campervan. After a short coastal drive, we ease into the trip near Ericeira with a beach walk, an optional first surf, and relaxed drinks together.
Day 2 – Surf & Settle in Ericeira
A full day to settle into the rhythm of the road. Guided surf session in the morning, followed by free time for cafés, coastal walks, or a second surf. No driving, no rush.
Day 3 – Surf Playground Ericeira → Peniche
We head south to Peniche, home to a variety of beach breaks. This is a high-energy surf day with plenty of options depending on conditions, ending with a laid-back evening near the beach.
Day 4 – The Wild Coast Peniche → Alentejo
A scenic drive into the quieter Alentejo coast. Long beaches, fewer people, and a slower pace define the day, offering space to reset before heading further south.
Day 5 – Algarve Arrival Alentejo → Arrifana
We reach the Algarve’s west coast, where dramatic cliffs and consistent waves set the tone. Surf in the afternoon and golden-hour views to finish the day.
Day 6 – Slow Day & Group Night in Arrifana
A relaxed highlight of the week. Morning surf, a free afternoon for exploring or resting, and a group BBQ in the evening as the sun sets over the cliffs.
Day 7 – Finale & Departure Arrifana → Sagres
